Selling home

When the dream of owning a home is inaccessible to most what do the sale advertisement signs do ?

Selling home is an installation of a photo series which captures the Sale signs displayed on local Sydney streets. From this documentation Felixe digitally removed all logos and texts leaving the audience with a blank space and the single photograph on the sign framed by the local streets and facade of the home advertised.

Through an intentionally curated selection of the sale signs Felixe explores the commercial use of communal spaces within these homes. Drawn to a phenomenon where the private space bleeds into the public space Felixe aims to reveal the absurdity of this singular moment where these private spaces are displayed out on the streets for everyone to see.

Looking at the weird reality of the real estate agents attempts at commodifying the feeling of home.

Through this large collection Felixe also aims to reveal the cumulative nature of Sale signs demonstrating the constant relocation and movement of people within our city as well as demonstrating how they are becoming part of our suburban landscape.

Leaving the audience to question their own personal relationship with these sale signs.
